Sydney A. Paredes, Executive Coach

Sydney Paredes is president and founder of Breakthrough Leadership, Inc., a firm dedicated to helping organizations and individuals increase effectiveness, contribution, and personal satisfaction. As principal coach and facilitator, Sydney works directly with top leaders and their teams to create long-term sustainable change for organizations and individuals.

Sydney ’s organizational development work is grounded in complex systems theory, in which she has both graduate level training and practical experience. As a Certified Integral Coach, Sydney employs a coaching methodology that is solidly grounded in biology, philosophy, and psychology. She believes the coaching relationship must be based on mutual respect, mutual trust and mutual freedom of expression, and that both client and coach are constantly learning from each other. She is committed to help her clients achieve long-term excellent performance in the focus area of her coaching, and to build their competence to self-correct and continue their development on their own after the coaching ends.

Sydney focuses on working with senior leaders at Vice President and Director levels and her coaching clientele represent a broad spectrum of job functions and longevity. Her 30-year corporate career included an impressive variety of responsibilities and experience from which to draw in working with her executive coaching clients. Her responsibilities included leadership roles in customer care and operations, marketing and sales, labor relations, human resources, training, program management, and leadership and organizational development. She managed multi-million dollar budgets and served as a member of senior leadership teams responsible regional P&L results. Sydney’s most recent executive role was as Director of Leadership and Organizational Development at a fortune 500 company where she was responsible for developing and implementing systemic strategies to build leadership competencies throughout the organization.

Sydney has served on a number of boards of directors and her community service includes pro-bono executive coaching for leaders of community non-profit organizations. She also dedicates time to help develop coaching skill in others and serves on coaching certification (credentialing) review boards.

Sydney earned a BS in business administration from Portland State University , an Executive MBA from the University of Oregon , and an MA in Applied Behavioral Science from The Leadership Institute of Seattle at Bastyr University . She also completed development programs for top leaders at the Center for Creative Leadership in Boulder , Colorado in 1995 and 1996 and is a graduate of the New Ventures West Professional Coaching Course, one of the International Coaching Federation’s (ICF) highest ranked coaching schools.
